On Friday, December 30, 2022 at approximately 5:58 pm, Officers of the Roswell Police Department responded to the Leisure INN in the 2700 block of West Second Street in reference to a shooting. There Officers contacted Anthony McCullough, 27, who advised that he had just shot a man.
The investigation by the Roswell Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division revealed that the two men had been sitting inside of a pickup when the victim Adam Trujillo, 32, allegedly threatened Anthony McCullough with a knife. Anthony then exited his vehicle went into his motel room where he armed himself with a rifle and shot Adam multiple times while he was still sitting in the passenger seat of the pickup.
Anthony performed first aid on Adam after shooting him but Adam Trujillo died on scene from his injuries.
Anthony McCullough was detained on scene and at 4:57 am, today, December 31, 2022, he was arrested at the Roswell Police Department on one count of Murder in the Second Degree and is incarcerated at the Chaves County Detention Center.
