The New Mexico Public Education Department has released its latest school designation data, highlighting significant achievements within the Clovis Municipal School District. Barry, Mesa, and Zia schools have been recognized as Spotlight Schools for ranking in the top 25% of public schools across the state.
All other schools in the district have achieved a Traditional School designation this year. Notably, W.D. Gattis Middle School advanced from a Comprehensive Support and Improvement (CSI) designation to Traditional status. Similarly, Marshall, Yucca, Parkview, and iAcademy improved from Additional Targeted Support and Improvement (ATSI) to Traditional status.
School designations are determined based on various criteria including academic proficiency in Math, Science, and Reading; growth in Math and Reading; graduation rates; and performance within specific student groups such as English language learners, students with disabilities, ethnicity groups, and economically disadvantaged students.
Spotlight School qualifications are reviewed annually. The next potential change for Traditional status will occur in the 2026-27 school year.
"Congratulations to all campuses for their ongoing commitment to academic progress and excellence."
