Clovis Municipal Schools is offering a bilingual program aimed at developing fluency in multiple languages for students from kindergarten through 12th grade. The initiative focuses on enhancing linguistic abilities and cultural understanding, preparing students for global success.

The program provides incremental content instruction to develop proficiency in both English and Spanish. At La Casita Elementary, the dual-language approach starts with 80% of instruction in Spanish and 20% in English for kindergarteners, adjusting as students advance.

A key feature of the CMS bilingual program is the opportunity for students to earn the New Mexico Bilingualism & Biliteracy State Seal upon graduation. This recognition signifies full bilingual competency. In 2024, 50 graduates received this seal, underscoring the program's effectiveness.

In 2022, the New Mexico Public Education Department recognized Clovis High School Freshman Academy for its outstanding bilingual and multicultural program due to significant gains in student proficiency.

Through this bilingual program, Clovis Municipal Schools aims to enhance language skills while equipping students with cultural competencies necessary for creative thinking and continuous learning.
