A local man was arrested and charged last month in connection with the theft of more than 20 catalytic converters from vehicles on a Roswell vehicle sales lot during multiple incidents over about five months.
Following an investigation by the Roswell Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division, Cody Brown, 29, is charged with three counts of larceny, three counts of receiving stolen property, two counts of conspiracy to commit larceny, possession of burglary tools, and criminal trespass. Brown was arrested Nov. 19 at his home in the 2700 block of West Eighth Street. A preliminary hearing was held in early December and all counts were bound over to District Court for trial.
Brown is accused of using a power saw to cut catalytic converters from vehicles at a vehicle sales lot in the 1500 block of West Second Street. The thefts occurred on multiple occasions between late May and late October. The value of the stolen converters and the damage caused in removing them is estimated to be at least $23,000. Brown was selling the stolen converters to another party.
The RPD investigation into the theft of catalytic converters remains active with the potential of additional people being charged with crimes related to this case or others.
