A local teenager was arrested Dec. 9 and charged with robbery for a violent incident that occurred four days earlier in southeast Roswell and left a 76-year-old woman with serious injuries.
The investigation by the Roswell Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division identified a 17-year-old male as the person who attacked the woman Dec. 5 as she was taking a walk near Jackson Drive and East Wildy Street around 7:30 a.m. The woman had come to a nearby food bank that was not yet open for the day, so she decided to take a walk to pass the time until it opened.
Investigators found evidence indicating the teen was outside his residence working on a vehicle when he saw the woman, followed her a short distance and attacked her, stealing her wallet and vehicle keys. The woman suffered serious injuries that required her to be transported to a Texas hospital for treatment. She has since been released from the hospital.
A court order released the teen to the custody of his parents while awaiting proceedings in this case.
