SANTA FE, NM – At their first regular Board meeting following the January 19, 2022 General Membership meeting, the New Mexico County Insurance Authority Board of Directors held elections for officers on Wednesday, May 11, 2022. Officers will serve until the first regular board meeting in 2023.
By a unanimous vote, the NMCIA Board of Directors re-elected Curry County Manager Lance Pyle as Chair along with Santa Fe County Manager Gregory S. Shaffer as Vice Chair. The board re-elected Taos County Commissioner Jim Fambro as the New Mexico Counties Board Representative. The NMCIA Board representative to the NMC Board of Directors must be a county elected official and represents all NMCIA member counties.
“We are thankful to the leadership of the NMCIA self-insurance pool and congratulate the officers on their re-election,” said Risk Management Director Taylor Horst. “Stability of leadership is key during these challenging times and the staff thanks these officers for their dedication.”
NMCIA is a county insurance pool that provides coverage for workers’ compensation, property, liability, and law enforcement for member counties. As of February 28, 2022, the Pool has a financial net position of approximately $56.6 million that includes the current year Pool net position of $23.1 million. The Board of Directors is responsible for protecting the assets of the Pool, approving affordable insurance coverages for its members, and making smart decisions in the best interest of all county members. The Board is comprised of county elected officials and employees representing each of the four geographical districts, each Class A county, and a representative for each small, mid-level, and mid-level-high population county.
