The Energy Transition Act (SB 489) has been approved by lawmakers in New Mexico as well as committing the state to transition to 80 percent renewable power by 2040, SB 489 will allow money to be allocated toward diversifying the economy that will be strongly affected by closing the San Juan Generating Station.
