Clovis Municipal Schools will be offering students in 9th-12th grades the opportunity to earn credits through Challenge Exams scheduled for June 3-4-5, 2024. According to the announcement, any student who has failed a course or plans to enroll in one of the specified subjects can participate in these exams to showcase their proficiency in the essential knowledge and skills outlined for the courses.
The exams will cover three subjects on different dates and times: English I on June 3 from 8:30-11:30 a.m., Algebra I on June 4 at the same time slot, and NM History on June 5 during the morning hours as well.
"A passing score of no less than 85% is required to receive credit for these courses on the student’s high school transcript," stated the school administration.
Students will be taking the exams on their own computers, and those who do not have access to one are advised to inform the school during the registration process. It was also highlighted that there will be a non-refundable fee of $25.00 per exam, and the deadline to register and submit payment is May 31, 2024, by 3:00 pm.
Gena Wilkerson, Executive Assistant Academic Services at Clovis Municipal Schools, provided details on how to complete the registration process: "Please submit your completed registration form and exam fee(s) to Gena Wilkerson, PO Box 19000, Clovis, NM 88102-9000, or hand deliver to 1009 N. Main Street. Checks should be made payable to Clovis Municipal Schools."
This initiative aims to provide students with an alternative way to earn credits and showcase their understanding of the course materials, offering a flexible and accessible option for those who are confident in their knowledge and skills.
