Weather Update

The entire 285 corridor from Vaughn to Carlsbad is experiencing heavy rains, and have been for most of the morning. This is the first wave of heavy rainfall as a low pressure system move in from Arizona, bringing with it a lot of moisture.

Just like mentioned in previous days, the National Weather Service currently has a flash flood watch for all of Eastern New Mexico until Sunday night as rainfall rates are expected to continue to rise.

It is expected to see rain most, if not all of today into tonight, as this system is barley starting it’s trek into our area. We do not expect anything more then just heavy rains, there should not be much wind or lightning or any hail because of the lack of daytime heating and a few other factors.

The city of Roswell has sandbags available for pickup at the water department located at the intersection of South Grand and East Alameda (before the railroad tracks).

We will update if anything changes or we see any road closures or emergencies from the excessive rainfall.
