2 Separate Shootings

Chaves County issued the following announcement on March 26.

Roswell Police Public Spokesman Todd Wildermuth said

“Friday, around 11:30 p.m.

RPD investigators believe two men shot each other in the area of the Variety Bar in the 1100 block of West Second Street. However, the location and circumstances have not yet been confirmed as the investigation continues. One man, 33, was shot and had non-life-threatening injuries. The other man, 40, has life-threatening injuries and remains in a hospital out of state.

Saturday, around 7 a.m.

A 17-year-old male was shot at an apartment in the Spring River Apartments complex in the 1600 block of North Sycamore Avenue. The suspect, a 19-year-old male, was detained a short time later. RPD is working on obtaining an arrest warrant”.

Breaking News: Shortly after 7am Roswell Emergency Dispatch received a call of a male with a gunshot wound to the face at the Spring River Luxery Apartments.

While units where enroute, the male caller stated that they where still activity being shot at while on the phone with 911.

Upon arrival, RPD and CCSO located a male with atleast 1 gunshot wound to the face in an upper apartment located at the Spring River Apartments at 1600 North Sycamore.

The victim was transported emergently to Eastern New Mexico Medical Center in critical condition (listed as level 1 trauma) and will be flown out to a more advanced medical center.

At this time there is little information available, it is unknown if the male was injured (but was not transported by ambulance) or if any suspects where taken into custody or if they have an identity.
