City of Roswell issued the following announcement on Dec. 30.
Street closures will take place beginning Jan. 4 in the area of the intersection of West Deming Street and South Lea Avenue as city crews replace water mains in advance of the upcoming replacement of the Lea Street bridge. This initial work on the water mains is expected to possibly last into February. Crews will be working each weekday from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., but the street closures will be in place at all times throughout the duration of the water-main work.
West Deming will be closed between South Missouri and South Kentucky avenues. South Lea will be closed between West Bland and West Summit streets. Local traffic will have access to properties in the closed sections, but other traffic will be diverted.
Motorists are cautioned to pay extra attention while in the area during the work as there will be open trenches present. Motorists are asked to reduce their speeds and obey the traffic-control devices that will be present.
The water-main work will likely require some temporary water-service disruptions in the area. Citizens with questions about access to property or water-service disruptions can call the Water Maintenance and Transmission Department at (575) 624-6730 and select option 2.
