City of Roswell issued the following announcement on Dec. 11.
The recycling service from the City of Roswell’s Solid Waste Department will come to a close Jan. 8, 2021, as the city turns over local recycling services to a private company. A franchise agreement between the city and J&A Recycling received final approval from the City Council Dec. 10 and will formally go into effect Jan. 9.
The city recycling collection containers located at various sites throughout the city will remain in use through December and the first several days of January, but will be removed by Jan. 8. Citizens can continue to use the containers during this period to deposit cardboard and cans (tin and aluminum). Other types of recyclables are no longer accepted.
The variety of acceptable recyclables will again expand as Roswell-based J&A Recycling takes over. Residents will deal directly with J&A to set up collection service featuring collection from their homes or businesses. People who have been customers of J&A in the past should note that the company is under new management, so past customers will have to sign up anew if they would like the service.
