45 percent of applicants to the University of the Southwest were admitted for fall 2018

At the University of the Southwest, 71 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 62 percent are male, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year private not-for-profit institution in Hobbs enrolled 951 students in fall 2018, including 416 in undergraduate and 535 in graduate programs, data shows. 19 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

52 percent of undergraduates are residents of New Mexico, and 33 percent are residents of other states. 7 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as Hispanic or Latino (29 percent) and white (27 percent).

The school admitted 45 percent of the 268 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 70 percent enrolled.
