Clovis - Curry County Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on July 29.
In celebration of American Wind Week, Pattern Energy, in conjunction with the Clovis/Curry County Chamber of Commerce and the Clovis Civic Center, presents the third annual Back-to-School Expo. In effort to help students and families gear up for the new school year, the drive-thru expo will be held in the Clovis Civic Center parking lot on Friday, August 7 between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Families will receive one bag of school supplies per student in their vehicle, and all attendees will have the exciting opportunity to enter a drawing for a new laptop or one of four bicycles being given away.
Pattern Energy spearheads this Back-to-School Expo each year during American Wind Week, a nation-wide celebration of America’s accomplishments in advancing wind energy. Although the usual games and activities won’t be possible due to COVID-19 restrictions, this year’s supply bags have been made extra special thanks to generous donations from Walmart and Salvation Army.
“This year’s Back-to-School Expo might look a little different than it has in the past, but we’ve gotten used to thinking outside of the box,” said Ernie Kos, Clovis/Curry County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director. “Just like we did last month for Clovis’ Draggin’ Main Music Festival and like we’re currently doing with the Pop-Up Patio Campaign for our restaurants, we’re determined to adapt and reinvent the way we do things so we can keep providing for our community and businesses.”
The Back-to-School Expo is free and open to the public. However, students must be in the vehicle to receive their supplies and all tickets must be entered in the prize drawing before leaving the parking lot. For more information about this year’s event, please contact the Chamber at 575-763-3435.
