ARTESIA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE: State Updates on COVID-19

Artesia Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on Apr. 7. 

STATE OF NEW MEXICO

Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham released an updated Public Health Order April 6, 2020, further restricting activity and commerce in the ongoing fight to slow or end the spread of COVID-19.  The stay-at-home order has been extended to April 30, 2020.  Please read the order from the NM Department of Health:  https://cv.nmhealth.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/040620-DOH-PHO.pdf.

Many essential businesses continue to operate in our community.  Hotels are allowed to accommodate essential workers who are required to be here but do not have a permanent residence here. 

EDDY COUNTY NEWS

Commissioner Jon Henry reports that, despite reports that Governor Lujan Grisham will allow for the early release of some prisoners, Eddy County Corrections will not be releasing any prisoners at this time.  Please follow Jon Henry on Facebook or visit https://www.co.eddy.nm.us/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=281 to see COVID-19 updates.

CITY NEWS

City Hall and all city-owned facilities are closed until further notice.  If you need to conduct business with the City, please call 746-2122 to make an appointment. 

Water bills may be paid at the drive-thru, via mail, or online.  To pay via telephone, please call 833-271-0802.  On March 31, 2020, the City approved a moratorium on water shut-offs for a period of 60 days.  Payments will not be forgiven, but late payments will not result in shut-offs during this period.

COUNTY NEWS

Eddy County Commission’s regular meeting on Tuesday, April 7 has been cancelled.  The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, April 21 and will be livestreamed.  In order to comply with New Mexico State orders, attendance at the meeting will not be allowed.  For information about how to watch or participate, please read the announcement.  http://www.co.eddy.nm.us/DocumentCenter/View/4836/Notice-of-Cancelled-Commission-Meeting-on-4-7-2020–PDF?bidId=

MOTOR VEHICLE DEPARTMENT

While COVID-19 restrictions are in place, the Motor Vehicle Department will be seeing customers by appointment only.  Please call 746-1323 to make an appointment.  You may ask questions via email at MVD.closure@state.nm.us or MVD.forseniors@state.nm.us for drivers 79 years or older.  Online transactions may be handled at: http://mvdonline.com/?fbclid=IwAR2UKfYzqLMavOm_MRHjTb_kWE8jpz9pKviTIIn2l3GM5uEprvhpFS2MoEo.

Real ID compliance cannot be handled online, so you may make an appointment.  The deadline for compliance has been extended to October 1, 2021.
