The New Mexico GOP said it believes in the validity of its lawsuit despite a recent ruling in a lawsuit involving absentee ballots in Dona Ana County, it said in a press release.
New Mexico GOP Chairman Steve Peace released the statement Nov. 6.
"Today’s decision doesn’t diminish the validity of our suit," Pearce said in the statement released on New Mexico GOP's website. "Our position is that the New Mexico Secretary of State is wrong, and we will continue our suit and the fight to ensure elections in our state are fair. We will continue to fight for all voters and stand with them for an honest election system."
The lawsuit names the New Mexico Secretary of State and Dona Ana County. It alleged that some absentee ballots in the county that did not have names, registration addresses or years of birth were still counted, according to KFOX14.
KFOX14 says the GOP officials argue that the county should have called and confirmed those ballots.
