Clovis High School students excel at New Mexico FCCLA State Conference

The Clovis High School chapter of Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) has achieved significant success at the New Mexico FCCLA State Conference. The event took place from February 26 to March 1 in Albuquerque, NM. The team returned with 12 National Qualifiers and several prestigious awards.

Joaquin Sanchez concluded his role as Vice President of Finance for NM FCCLA, contributing significantly to the leadership of the state conference. The CHS FCCLA received the 2024 Community Service Award for their commitment to collecting pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald House, gathering an impressive 86 pounds through district-wide competitions.

Additionally, CHS FCCLA was named the FCCLA State Champion for 2025 and achieved the Chapter of Distinction Gold Level. Joaquin Sanchez was elected as NM FCCLA State President, while Jose Llamas Gallegos was elected as the 1st Vice President for the upcoming school year.

In state-level events, Karely Baeza earned a silver medal in Thematic Promotion Traditional – Level 3. In digital promotion, Kevin Lopez, Ivan Martinez, and Jazleyn Quintana also secured silver in Level 2.

Several members qualified nationally: Emily Bjorklund, Luisana Loya-Avila, and Annelise Watson won gold in Chapter in Review Display – Level 3. Sunny Ward received a $1,000 scholarship after earning silver in Culinary Arts – Level 3. Jasmyne Cadena also secured silver in this category.

Nya Karoki earned a $500 scholarship with her silver performance in Early Childhood Education – Level 3. Joselyn Foggie, Kimberly Llamas Gallegos, and Somtochi Oparaiheoma-Anaele were awarded silver in Event Management – Level 3.

Isabel Sanchez won gold in Food Innovations – Level 2. Joaquin Sanchez and Jerimya Landin secured silver in Interpersonal Communications – Level 2. Aliyah Valverde earned a silver medal for promoting and publicizing FCCLA at Level 3.

Hailey Holmes won gold in Repurpose and Redesign – Level 2 alongside Daniel Bwana and Jose Llamas Gallegos who also took home gold at this level. Addisyn Johnson and Onavaya Sintas were awarded silver at Level 3.

Finally, Khylee Borjas along with Jazleyn Quintana and AnJulie Villejas claimed gold medals in Sports Nutrition – Level 2.

These achievements highlight CHS FCCLA members' dedication to teamwork and leadership skills while reflecting their continued excellence both competitively and through community service efforts.
