Due to a cold weather advisory from the National Weather Service, Clovis Municipal Schools (CMS) will implement a two-hour delay on Wednesday, February 19, 2025. The advisory forecasts wind chills dropping to -10°F, which poses risks such as frostbite or hypothermia without proper precautions.

The decision aims to protect students who walk to school or wait at bus stops by allowing time for temperatures to rise and ensuring school buildings are ready for both students and staff.

Key details of the delay include:

- All school start times will be delayed by two hours.

- Morning bus pick-up times will also be delayed by two hours. For instance, a bus scheduled for 7:00 a.m. will now arrive at 9:00 a.m.

- Students usually dropped off at 7:30 a.m. should instead arrive at 9:30 a.m.

- The A.M. 3Y Preschool session is canceled due to the delay.

- Breakfast and lunch services will proceed as usual.

Families are advised to ensure that students dress warmly in layers, including hats, gloves, and scarves, to guard against the extreme cold.

For district staff:

- Maintenance and custodial staff should report at their regular times to prepare the buildings.

- District administrators and supervisors need to report within 45 minutes of their normal start time to ensure staff presence if students arrive early.

- All other district staff should adhere to the two-hour delay schedule.

Further information on inclement weather procedures can be found on the CMS website or through their social media updates.
