Roswell Fire Chief Matt Miller has announced his retirement, effective January 31. With 22 years of service in the Roswell Fire Department (RFD), Miller has been chief for over four years. He initially took on the role as interim chief in September 2020 and was appointed permanently in November of the same year. As the department's 19th chief, Miller previously served as a firefighter, deputy fire marshal, and fire marshal.

City Manager Chad Cole revealed Miller's retirement during a City Council meeting on January 9. At the meeting, Miller reflected on his career with RFD, stating it comprised "the best years of my entire life." He praised his colleagues as "the best group of guys on the planet…the fire department is by far the best."

Mayor Tim Jennings and other council members expressed their gratitude and appreciation for Miller's dedicated service to Roswell.
