Stan Hodges, a seasoned high school football coach with over 25 years of experience and more than 50 playoff games, has been appointed as the head football coach at Clovis High School.
Hodges will transition from his role at Permian High School, where he served as the varsity running back coach for three years and secured two district championship titles. This move marks a significant change as he leaves West Texas to join the Wildcats.
Specializing in Character Education, Hodges began his coaching career in 1996 at Calallen High School as the running back and track coach. In 1999, he accepted a position at Judson High School as a varsity football and wrestling coach, leading them to a state championship in 2002. He later served as boys athletic director and head football coach at Kountze Independent School District from 2005 to 2009, achieving two consecutive winning seasons.
In subsequent years, Hodges held various coaching positions: defensive line coach at Deer Park High School in 2009, offensive coordinator for West Orange-Stark High School in 2011, and Galveston Ball High School in 2012. From 2013 to 2020, he was the athletic director and head football coach at Hull-Daisetta Independent School District, guiding them through five playoff appearances before moving to Permian High School in 2021.
Hodges holds a master's degree in education administration from Texas A&M University and a bachelor's degree in kinesiology from Angelo State University.
Coach Hodges will officially assume his new position this month and will meet with the Wildcats on Wednesday for an initial introduction. Additional opportunities for players and parents to meet him will be announced soon. This vacancy arose following the departure of Andrew McCraw.
"Congratulations and welcome to the Wildcats Coach Hodges!"
