Alma Porras, an experienced educator and administrator from Odessa, Texas, has been appointed as the assistant principal at Clovis High School. Porras most recently served as a counselor at Permian High School for three years.

Porras began her career in 2008 as a high school science teacher with the Pecos-Barstow-Toyah Independent School District. In 2015, she transitioned to the role of academic counselor, a position she held until 2021 when she became a counselor at Permian High School.

Specializing in college and career preparation, Porras has dedicated her career to helping students plan for academic and career success both during and after high school. “It is an honor to take on the role of assistant principal at Clovis High School, a learning community focused on excellence,” Porras stated. “I am passionate about education, and I look forward to contributing to our students’ high school and post-secondary success.”

An alumna of Sul Ross State University, Porras holds a Master of Education in Counseling and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Hardin Simmons University.

Porras will begin her role as assistant principal in July to prepare for the upcoming school year. This vacancy was created by the departure of Amy Wyatt.
