The New Mexico Student Success and Wellness Bureau has launched its Summer EBT (SUN Bucks) program. Students who qualify will receive a SUN Bucks Card valued at $120.
Qualification for this program has been pre-determined by the state. However, families who do not receive the benefit are welcome to apply to participate.
Students meeting the following eligibility requirements do not need to apply and are automatically enrolled to receive a SUN Bucks card with the $120 benefit per student:
- Directly certified students currently participating in:
- Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP),
- Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF),
- Medicaid in some cases (not all categories of Medicaid qualify)
- Students who are Homeless/Runaway, Foster, Migrant, and Head Start
All other students that are not categorically eligible, including those attending a CEP school, will need to apply to participate in the SUN Bucks EBT program.
Each family will receive a single physical card loaded with benefits for all qualifying children in the household. Cards should be saved after SUN Bucks have been used. In the event the state issues additional funds at a later date, those funds would be loaded onto existing cards.

Eligibility for this and other programs may be determined based on family and/or student information that local school districts submit to the state. To ensure consideration for benefits such as these, it is important to regularly verify and update your information in Skyward Family Access.
