Clovis Municipal Schools is currently accepting transfer applications for elementary students interested in attending a Fine Arts or Science Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) integrated school for the 2024-2025 academic year. The integrated learning programs are hosted at Barry Elementary School and the Arts Academy at Bella Vista. Starting in 2024-2025, Barry Elementary School will be designated as a STEAM Academy, focusing on education rich in science, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics. The Arts Academy at Bella Vista continues its tradition of integrating performing and fine arts into its curriculum.
Families interested in applying can request an application at the GC Ross Administration Building or via email at academic.services@clovis-schools.org.
**Barry STEAM Academy**
The Barry STEAM Academy promotes independent thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, and skill acquisition among students. The academy's mission is to engage students with an interdisciplinary curriculum focused on science, technology, engineering, multimedia arts, and mathematics.
Daily enrichment periods offer activities in music, physical education, robotics, and multimedia arts. The embedded Project Lead The Way (PLTW) curriculum provides hands-on learning opportunities across disciplines such as computer science and biomedical science. "We know that young learners are naturally wired for discovery," states PLTW. "In PLTW, students are immersed in hands-on activities that build upon each other and relate to the real world."
**Arts Academy at Bella Vista**
The Arts Academy at Bella Vista aims to cultivate creative thinking through arts-infused academic instruction. This approach encourages intrinsic motivation and cultural appreciation facilitated by dedicated professionals alongside family and community partnerships.
The academy emphasizes visual arts' role in educational growth by offering experiences with various art mediums like watercolors, oils, clay, fabric, and textiles. Students also study art history as part of their curriculum. The integration of fine arts with academics aims to enhance overall student achievement.
