She first joined Clovis Schools in 2006 as a teacher at Parkview Elementary, before moving to the Arts Academy at Bella Vista in 2007 where she taught fourth and fifth grades until 2019.

Transitioning to Marshall Middle School in 2019, Smith took on a role teaching math before becoming a Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) at Cameo Elementary in 2021-2022. A Clovis High School graduate and an alumnus of Wayland Baptist University, Smith holds a Master’s Degree in Education specializing in Reading, as well as a Bachelor’s of Arts in Education.
