Breaking News: Roswell Police unit stolen while on duty.

Update-

“An RPD police vehicle (Dodge pickup truck patrol unit) was stolen Tuesday, Feb. 21, from outside the police station between 2 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. The officer had left it running and failed to lock it before going into the police station. Surveillance video showed a man stealing it and officers recognized him as Miguel Rodriguez, 33, whom RPD has dealt with in the past.

A short time later, investigators located the stolen vehicle in an alley in the 500 block of South Beech Avenue and found Rodriguez at a residence in the same block. He was taken into custody without incident as part of the continuing investigation. Formal charges are pending.

The police vehicle was not damaged during this incident and none of the contents of the vehicle was missing when it was recovered.” Said RPD Spokesman Todd Wildermuth.
