Portions of roads surrounding the Roswell Air Center will be closed during daytime hours to accommodate the National Championship Air Races, scheduled for September 10-14, and a preceding pilots certification event from September 6-9. The certification event is not open to the public.

From September 6-14, between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. daily, several road closures will be in effect:

– Westbound Hobson Road will be closed at Sunset Road.
– Westbound YO Road will be closed at Nashville Road.
– Northbound Old YO Crossing Road will be closed at Pierre Road.

Additionally, on the northeast side of the air center, East Hobson Road from Earl Cummings Loop to U.S. 285 will be closed to general traffic from September 10-14 during the same hours. This section will only serve air-race attendees traveling to and from designated parking areas. Earl Cummings Loop between Gail Harris Street and the air-races entrance (located near West Mathis Street) will also be closed during these dates and times.

No general traffic will be allowed into these areas while closures are in effect. Motorists are advised to plan alternate routes.

The Roswell Police Department and City of Roswell issued a statement: “The Roswell Police Department and City of Roswell apologize for the inconvenience. These road closures are for the safety of the pilots, ground staff and public.”

For further details about the National Championship Air Races, information is available at https://airrace.org.

Travelers flying out of or arriving at the air-center terminal during this period should use South Main Street, continue south on Walker Boulevard and Gail Harris Street, then go east on Earl Cummings Loop to reach the terminal.
