A local man and his girlfriend have been arrested for burglarizing three businesses in a three-week period during June and July. The pair targeted two vehicle-repair shops and a salon, stealing more than $20,000 worth of various items.
Jessie Miller, 40, and Angela Paz, 36, are charged with burglary, larceny, receiving stolen property, criminal damage to property, conspiracy and other crimes related to the burglaries.
The burglaries occurred June 23 at MTA Mechanics and Tires in the 600 block of South Main Street, where a customer’s mobile-boutique vehicle was burglarized while parked overnight, with jewelry, clothing, fashion accessories and shoes stolen; July 12 at United Auto Repair in the 100 block of East Albuquerque Street, where the burglars created a large hole in a wall and stole tools and automotive-repair equipment; and July 13 at Hair & Co. in the 200 block of West Third Street, where an iPad was stolen.
The couple had sold some of the stolen merchandise. However, some stolen items were recovered from Miller’s residence and other locations.
The investigation by RPD’s Criminal Investigations Division led to the July 25 arrests of Miller and Paz, who remained in custody Tuesday morning (Aug. 9) at the Chaves County Detention Center.
