Children and families in Roswell will have the opportunity to participate in a community event as the City of Roswell and Waymaker Church organize the Fall Bash. The free gathering is scheduled for Thursday, October 30, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Pioneer Plaza, located at 426 N. Main St.

The event will feature a variety of activities including trunk-or-treat, games, bounce houses, photo opportunities, candy and non-food trinkets, music, and complimentary hot dogs, chips, and drinks while supplies last.

City departments are involved in the event with several providing interactive experiences. The Roswell Police Department and Roswell Fire Department will be present for children and adults to meet first responders and see law enforcement and fire vehicles up close. Departments such as Streets, Parks, Transit, Solid Waste, Recreation, Museum, Air Center, City Clerk’s office, Community Development, Animal Services, Safety, Water and Finance are also participating by displaying work vehicles or offering activities.

Other organizations taking part include American Medical Response ambulance service and Utility Workers of America Union Local 51. The Visitor Center will provide restroom access for attendees and offer a “not-so-scary” hallway experience.

Attendees are encouraged to wear costumes if they wish. Parking is available one block west of Pioneer Plaza at North Richardson Avenue and West Fourth Street.

Individuals interested in donating candy for the trunk-or-treat can do so by dropping off donations at City Hall (425 N. Richardson Ave.), Public Affairs office (421 N. Richardson Ave.), Roswell Police Department (128 W. Second St.), or Fire Station 1 (200 S. Richardson Ave.).

Sponsors supporting this event include Home Depot; Admiral Beverage Co.; Eastern New Mexico University-Roswell; Eastern New Mexico Medical Center; Dion’s; Albertsons (South Main); White Cloud Pipeline; Shamrock Foodservice Warehouse; Rhoads Co.; Pioneer Bank; Daniel Lopez Insurance Agency; Behavior Change Institute; Anderson Bethany; Leprino Foods.
