Clovis High School choir receives top honors at regional vocal festival

On October 2, 2025, 59 students from Clovis High School participated in the Southeastern New Mexico Music Educators Association’s Vocal Solo and Ensemble Festival. The event provided an opportunity for students to perform as soloists and in ensembles, with ratings awarded based on their performances.

Clovis High School received 45 first division ratings and 12 second division ratings for individual solo performances. In the ensemble category, five ensembles from the school achieved first division ratings.

Several students were recognized with Outstanding Soloist Awards. These students are Samantha Lee, Andrew Lopez, Alyssa Dial, Skyla Graves, and Heath Riviers.

Outstanding Ensemble Awards went to three groups from Clovis High School. The Begonia Ensemble included Adalyn Briscoe, Izabella Cordova, Angelique Fowler, Charlie Hudson, Lucia Palacios, and Jazelle Rocha. The Aster Ensemble was made up of Peyton Bass, Gregory Bryant, Ryan Case, Sophia Kreger, Mirannda Martin, Onavaya Sintas, Genesis Wiggins, and Kelby Williams. Members of the Thistle Ensemble were Peyton Bass, Gregory Bryant, Isaias Cano, Ryan Case, Ethan LaCoursiere, Andrew Lopez, and Joquin Wheeler.

The choirs are directed by Tami Martin and James Golden. Support in preparing the students came from Zachary McAlister (Gattis Choir Director), Douglas MacLaren (Yucca Choir Director), Leslie Delgado (Marshall 6th Grade Academy), Seth Baldock (CHS Choir Ed Fellow), Sarah Sena (CHS Piano Lab & Accompanist), Peggy Brady (Retired Assistant Choir Director), and Dominique Barrera (CHS Choir Student Teacher from ENMU).

The organizers expressed appreciation for the support of the CMS Administration and the CMS School Board: “We would like to thank the CMS Administration and the CMS School Board for their continued support of our choral programs. Congratulations to these students and their directors!”
