The City of Roswell has selected SkyWest Airlines to provide new air service between Roswell and Denver, Colorado. The flights will be operated through United Airlines’ reservation, ticketing, and baggage system. This decision was made following a Request for Proposal process aimed at expanding connectivity for the city and surrounding communities.

With this move, Roswell’s Mayor and City Council aim to initiate contract negotiations and finalize schedules for two daily round-trip flights to Denver International Airport. These new flights will add to existing American Airlines service from Roswell to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport. The city notes that when the new flight schedule is first published, there will be a three-day period needed to synchronize booking systems, during which initial ticket prices may not be accurate.

Mayor Tim Jennings stated, “Our goal is to make air travel more accessible and convenient for Roswell and all of Southeast New Mexico. This new partnership will not only enhance existing travel options to the East, but will also stimulate local economic growth by attracting visitors and businesses to the area by adding air travel options to the West, connecting service to six different continents.”

The city is also planning airport terminal expansions in response to the anticipated increase in travelers. These improvements are intended to speed up passenger processing through security and accommodate higher passenger volumes. The City of Roswell says it will work closely with TSA partners on these efforts.

Chad Cole, City Manager for the City of Roswell, commented, “This a bold first step on behalf of our Mayor and City Council to agree to terms and supports needed to connect expanded travel opportunities for all of Southeast New Mexico, and the City’s administration stands ready to move forward with its governing authority’s vision and timeline for continuing airport opportunities and improvements that assure a seamless travel experience for all flyers.”

Further updates on the official schedule for the Denver flights are expected soon.
