Early this morning around 7 am the Chaves County Sheriff’s Office assisted by the Roswell Police Department, Roswell Correctional Center (RCC) and Chaves County Detention Center staff conducted searches on Jail staff and inmates at the Chaves County Detention Center for Illegal Contraband and Drugs. K-9 UNITS were used during the Search which resulted in Contraband and Drugs being located. A female Correction Officer Esmerelda Velasco 25 yrs old had Contraband on her and was Arrested. Two other Correction Officers were also interviewed and possible Arrests are pending. Several more Arrests of inmates who were in possession of Contraband are pending.
